Rural Transportation
This is a door-to-door transportation program for older persons in Marinette County. Trips are arranged according to priority of needs and include: medical, nutrition, personal business, and shopping. The program uses a handicapped accessible bus, which seat 7-9 persons. A minimum 24 hour advance reservation needed.
Route schedules vary based on demand and are subject to change. Some destinations are Marinette, Iron Mountain, Crivitz, and Peshtigo. Please contact the Transportation Coordinator for a more details.
Volunteer Medical Escort
This program utilizes volunteer drivers, who use their personal vehicles, to transport older persons who have no other means of transportation for medical appointments or medical prescriptions, to places in Marinette County and surrounding areas.
To be eligible, a person must meet all of the following requirements:
Marinette County resident
Age 60 years or older
Have no friends or family members available to provide a ride
Unable to arrange a ride with our Elderly Services rural bus
Trip must be for a medical appointment or medical prescription
This is not an emergency service; since volunteers provide rides, they have no obligation to be available on short notice. Volunteers are not required to have medical training. Advance reservations of 3 working days is needed, or a ride is not guaranteed.
There is a donation request per mile (round trip from volunteer’s home) to help offset program costs.
