The Town of Oconomowoc is located in the far north western corner of Waukesha County, Wisconsin. The town also includes the unincorporated communities of Mapleton, Monterey, and Okauchee. A number of lakes are also in the town, including the
Okauchee Lake System (Okauchee, Little Okauchee, Upper Oconomowoc), Lac La Belle, Ashippun Lake, and other smaller lakes including Florence, Tamarack, and Mapleton, and some smaller unnamed ones. The two major rivers in the town are the Oconomowoc and Ashippun Rivers.
The Town of Oconomowoc Police Department has 11 full time sworn officers, which includes a Chief, Lieutenant, Investigator, Sergeant and 7 Patrol Officers. In addition to full time patrol duties we also operate a Boat Patrol during the summer consisting of two patrol boats. The lakes have heavy recreational use year round. During the summer, Okauchee Lake is one of the busiest in Waukesha County, and one of the busiest lakes in the state in terms of boating traffic.
