The purpose of MMFHC is to promote fair housing throughout the State of Wisconsin by combating illegal housing discrimination and by creating and maintaining racially and economically integrated housing patterns. MMFHC's Enforcement Program conducts intake of housing and lending discrimination complaints, counsels complainants on their options for legal remedy, and investigates complaints as appropriate. MMFHC also conducts systemic investigations of institutional discrimination. MMFHC's fair lending program conducts intake of mortgage rescue scam complaints; provides technical assistance and education on fair lending and foreclosure prevention to lenders, policy makers and the general public; and offers information to financial institutions on how to improve service to low and moderate income communities and people of color. MMFHC's Outreach and Education Program conducts fair housing presentations to consumer groups, civic and neighborhood organizations, social service agencies and other audiences as appropriate. This program also provides fair housing training seminars for housing providers, and provides technical assistance to government agencies, housing providers and the general public. MMFHC 's Inclusive Communities Program conducts technical assistance and professional support for community organizations, developers and local policy makers on inclusionary housing policies and the promotion of racial and economic integration, and provides assistance with consumers’ access to pro-integrative housing choices.
