Description:
This program currently has 19 units (apartments) available throughout Marinette and other counties. They have 2 in the city of Marinette,2 in Wausaukee and 1 in Niagara.
Clients must be in a shelter, totally on the street or have an eviction letter as well as a confirmed diagnosis of mental illness from a doctor to qualify for this program.
These apartments are income based but income is not necessarily required because they have a weekly case manager that helps them with their circumstances (to find a job, to help them file for SSI, whatever). Once they are in the apartment they are allowed to stay there as long as they want. Utilities are included.
Newcap leases the apartments, but they are funded by HUD grants. If Marinette counties apartments are full, they have the option of moving to Oconto or Shawano if they have any apartments open.
