Description:

The Center for Senior Health & Longevity is located on the campus of Aurora Sinai Medical Center and specializes in the nuances of an aging body and mind. Geriatric specialists offer patient-centered, comprehensive care delivered with respect and compassion.

Outpatient Services:

Primary care physicians are available for general and preventive health needs. Additionally, board-certified geriatricians can consult with you and your primary care physician to provide the right specialized tests and treatment options.

Inpatient Services:

Aurora Sinai offers two inpatient specialty units:

•Acute Care for the Elderly Unit (ACE) – Wisconsin’s first inpatient program designed to care exclusively for older adults

•Wisconsin Masonic ACE of Hearts Unit – Catering to the needs of hospitalized older adults with heart disease. This service is made possible through a partnership with the Wisconsin Masons.

Acute Care:

The Acute Care for the Elderly (ACE) Unit at Aurora Sinai is Wisconsin’s first inpatient program designed to address common problems facing older patients, including issues of mobility, multiple health conditions and demanding medication regimens.

Geriatric Management:

The Geriatric Evaluation & Management Program (GEM) is a unique way to assess your overall health. The evaluation is lead by a geriatrician who works with a team of specialists to address your concerns. The result is a comprehensive plan for care personalized to your lifestyle and needs.

Medication Review:

Older adults tend to take more medications, which increases the risk for side effects and harmful interactions. We can review your over-the-counter and prescription medications in order to ensure safety and effectiveness.

Memory Loss:

In collaboration with the Wisconsin Alzheimer’s Institute, we provide memory assessments to help you determine the extent and possible causes of dementia. A team including a geriatrician, neuropsychologist and social worker will identify options for treatment and help you decide on a plan for care.

Mobility & Falls:

Falls and broken bones are one of the primary reasons older adults lose their independence. Working with a geriatrician, physical or occupational therapists, as well as other specialists as needed, you’ll learn how to prevent falls and unsteadiness. Our goal is to keep you on your feet and feeling secure.

Urinary Incontinence:

Loss of bladder control is an aggravating condition that affects many older adults. But it’s not an inevitable part of aging. Our team of experts will work closely with you to evaluate your case and identify possible treatment options. Recommendations may include medication, physical therapy or surgery.
