Description:
The Froedtert and Medical College Memory Disorders Program provides a comprehensive team approach to patients and families dealing with Alzheimer's disease, memory loss and related disorders. Patients have access to the latest advances in the prevention, assessment, and treatment of such disorders, including the latest medications and state-of-the-art technologies. Treatment interventions may include medications, such as memory enhancers or drugs for improvement of behavior; non-pharmacologic behavior management; and education, support and environmental change. A plan of care is developed and shared with the patient's family. A copy of the assessment is sent to the patient's primary care physician. The Memory Disorders Program participates in investigational drug studies and offers patients with mild cognitive impairment or Alzheimer's disease access to memory enhancing compounds that may not be available on the open market. Other research options are also available.
Referrals can be made through a physician, family member, caregiver or community agency. It is recommended that a family member accompany the patient to all appointments. Appointments are initiated by calling 805-3666. Appointment changes can be made through the Neurology Clinic 805-5224. This program is affiliated with the Wisconsin Alzheimer's Institute.
