Description:
Eligibility: Income less than 185% of poverty guidelines or adjunctively eligible; pregnant/postpartum women; children under age of 5.
Intake procedure: Applicants should call to make an appointment.
Services offered: WIC checks for nutritious foods, nutrition counseling & education, breastfeeding support, referrals to other agencies and health professionals.
Basic health and nutrition assessments (height, weight, hemoglobin, diet and some medical history) and related counseling and referrals.
Nutritionists also answer questions; provide information and referral on topics such as prenatal care, medical assistance, immunizations, breastfeeding, pediatric health, child development, social services, and nutrition education while enrolled in WIC.
Services include: monthly checks for free foods including milk, juice, cheese, eggs, cereal, peanut butter, dry beans, juice, fruits, vegetables, whole grain bread, rice or tortillas, and infant formula if not breastfed; Coupons for fresh produce at farmers' markets in the summer;
Practical tips on feeding infants and small children, healthy eating during pregnancy, how to breastfeed, and more; Assistance in getting immunizations for children, referrals to doctors, dentists, and other helpful programs.
WIC Clinics in Richland County: 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., 1st Tuesday of month; 12:30 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., 2nd Tuesday of month; 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., 3rd Tuesday of month. All clinics are at St. John's Lutheran Church, 479 S. Park St., Richland Center, WI. (Days & times subject to change.)
