Participating in outdoor recreational activities is difficult for many who struggle with mobility issues. However, it is possible to take part in many activities through the use of assistive technology and devices. There are numerous groups that promote outdoor recreation for individuals with disabilities. Below are links to those groups and to websites that provide information about outdoor recreational activities.

American Canoe Association
This is the oldest and largest organization devoted to paddle sports. Go to the "Adaptive" menu and to find information on the adaptive paddling program.

Adaptive Sailing
Information on sailing for individuals with disabilities can be found on this website. There is also a listing of events, competitions and day camps.

American Camping Association
Search ACA Camp Database and click "Find a Camp" and go to the "Special Needs/ Specialty Clientele" section.
